When Verana was barely twenty, the entire island nation of Evermeet was shifted into Faerie, the plane from which the elven people had originated several millennia ago. Queen Amlaruil died from the strain of enacting that great transportation, and Verana and her fellow ward Azariah were then shuffled among multiple instructors and tutors. Overall, life in Faerie—the Feywild—wasn’t much different for the people of Evermeet: they were isolated on Toril, and remained so in their new plane. On Toril, the elves insulated themselves against non-elves, but in the Feywild, many of the archfey, leShay, and eladrin of the plane held themselves apart from the elves they considered to be “dangerously shortsighted”, but other eladrin and lesser fey were happy to interact with the “younger” elves. When Varla was fifteen, the skies over Beorunna’s Well darkened and hordes of orcs, goblins, and giants swept across the land from the Kingdom of Many-Arrows. The “true” Red Tiger men fought furiously, but the enemy had overwhelming numbers. When more than half of the warriors had fallen, Seriska Hungermaw led away any who would listen to her, keeping the tribe on the move and out of the direct path between Many-Arrows and Citadel Felbarr. Her strategy saved nearly all who followed her, and Seriska was named the new chief with little opposition.
