Deidre Orthalf
Deidre grew up in the Denoth’ti’atkon Circle and raised by her druidic parents to be yet another druid in a long line of druidic ancestors. The Moonshae Isles have long held a deep connection to the Plane of Arborea, the great eternal forest home of the Earthmother, and the island of Denoth’ti’atkon held not only one of the Earthmother’s sacred moonwells, but a monumental arch of standing stones said to be a gateway to the Great Forest itself.
One day, the arch opened and monstrosities spilled out: hundreds upon thousands of goblinoid beasts stampeded into the clearing, attacking any man or beast which stood in their way, including their fellow goblinkin. Quickly overwhelmed, the survivors of the initial slaughter scattered the Circle to the shore of their island, sending away their youngest and oldest in boats, scuttling any vessels which remained, and rousing the creatures of the sea to encircle Denoth’ti’atkon and prevent anyone else from leaving or returning.
Deidre was fourteen at the time and though she had pleaded to remain behind, she was sent away with her grandfather and great-aunt.
Traits
“I am focused and driven toward my goals, which include restoring the balance of natural forces to my homeland. I admire the diligence of the creatures of the wild.”
Ideals
“Life is fleeting and death is eternal, therefore one should approach each day with purpose and passion.”
Bonds
“I long to return to my island home and make it a vibrant haven once more.”
Flaws
“I have little use for those who squander their days in pursuit of frivolity, no matter how many years they might witness.”
“I Know a Guy”
Deidre’s grandfather Caibhon and great-aunt Moira are both skilled practitioners of the druidic arts, though the elderly siblings will be the first to admit they are out of practice with the more martial aspects of their profession.
Friends & Enemies
The advocacy for the balance of nature championed by the Orthalfs has put them at odds with those who make their living from exploiting the land and its bounty. Even though they live outside the city’s walls, the three islanders have made enemies among the Guild of Butchers, the Fellowship of Carters and Coachmen, the League of Skinners and Tanners, the Stablemasters’ and Farrier’s Guild, and especially the Solemn Order of Recognized Furriers and Woolmen.
