Daletta and Danetta were born on a stormy spring morning in the back of a wagon, a beginning most appropriate for twins born of Moradin’s Thunder Blessing. When Nettle Waranvil went into labor ten miles from the gates of Citadel Adbar, she sent up a prayer to the Mother of Safety and bade her husband Dalber keep driving the mules forward. Two hours later and five miles closer, they were met by Sigun Steelshaft, a priestess who claimed to have received a vision compelling her to take a pony and ride out from the citadel.

Fifteen years later, Danetta and Daletta apprenticed in the faenor. Surprisingly for twins who’d grown up doing almost everything together in the same way, the girls soon found out that their interests in serving Berronar Truesilver were a little different: Nettie, the elder, was a quick study of the clerical rites, while Lettie found she had a greater interest in being a protector of the faithful, so she ended up squiring for Helga Brighthorn, a paladin.

As did nearly all able-bodied dwarves of Citadel Adbar, the Waranvil twins served during the War of the Silver Marches, but when the dust settled and the orcs of Many Arrows had been driven back into the Spine of the World, Citadel Adbar no longer felt like home. After joining the march to reclaim Gauntlgrym, the Waranvil sisters decided even a dwarf’s long life could be too short if the time wasn’t well-spent, so they made their way to Neverwinter and signed on to protect traveling merchant convoys not unlike the ones they’d been raised in by their parents.

Traits

“I’ve been called ‘reckless’, but I’d like to think myself as courageous and daring. I know it’s ‘un-dwarf-like’, but I enjoy making friends everywhere I go.”

Ideals

“Even a dwarf’s life can be too short to take for granted. Live for the moment, but protect what’s important: family.”

Bonds

“My twin sister is the other half of my soul, and I would do anything to protect her.”

Flaws

“I love to party hard, but I always regret the morning after.”

“I Know a Guy”

Nettie and Lettie traveled far more and more often than most dwarves from Citadel Adbar. As children, they played in Silverymoon and Sundabar with kids near their own age from the other races, and they remained occasional pen pals with some of those friends even after they were all grown. One human friend, Marcus Wessel, is now a wizard and instructor at the Conclave of Silverymoon, and their half-elf friend Lyriana Pineshade is a priestess of Mielikki at the sacred glade in the same city. Since the surface portions of Sundabar were leveled by War Chief Hartusk’s savagery, it seems unlikely any of the childhood friends still living in Sundabar are even still alive.

Friends & Enemies

It’s hard to not like Nettie and Lettie: they’re well-traveled, cultured, and polite. Well, for dwarves, anyway.
