Rosetta “Zetta” Meadowbreeze

Rosetta was born in the city of Everlund, but her mother Briana died when she was barely more than a year old. She was sent to live with her Aunt Joyana in Silverymoon for another few months after that, but the majority of her youth was spent among her father’s clan in the Moonwood. Though they occasionally teased for her need for sleep, Zetta’s elven cousins never made her feel less-than for having a human mother, and she had a magical childhood playing among the trees and the village ruins which the forest had largely reclaimed.

It wasn’t until her teens—when she began training as a scout—that she understood the reason the villages had been deserted: the orcs of the neighboring Kingdom of Many-Arrows had waged a series of short, brutal wars in the establishment of their domain, and the humans had retreated behind the walls of their cities, all-but abandoning the elven clans and the dwarven strongholds of the northern Silver Marches. A peace treaty nominally set borders with Many-Arrows, but clashes along the River Surbrin were not uncommon.

War inevitably came again, and Zetta joined her elven kin in defense of their woodland home. Despite their skill with bows, they were forced into retreat time and time again. The tide finally turned once the dwarves of Mithral Hall and Citadel Felbarr staged a cunning counter-offensive which helped bring Silverymoon into the war, and the orc kingdom was disbanded and driven back into the Spine of the World.

The Moonwood of Zetta’s childhood was gone. Over the course of the war, she had lost two childhood friends and dozens of others she had loved, and though her father and others counselled her on the elven approach to love and loss, Zetta couldn’t so easily let go of her grief. On the vain hope that physical distance might provide emotional distance, Zetta left the Moonwood to escort a caravan from Silverymoon to Waterdeep.

Zetta’s father, Endarios Meadowbreeze, is a skilled ranger living in the Moonwood, and she has many other relatives and friends among the elves. He didn’t know Bri had borne him a child until Joy reached out to him about raising Zetta.

Friends & Enemies

Joyana Redhill and her husband Alverd run the Silver Hills trading coster. Joy and Bri were guards for Silver Hills caravans, which is how they met their respective partners. It was a Silver Hills caravan Zetta helped escort to Waterdeep.
