Verana Duskwalker

Verana’s mother died soon after she was born and she never knew her father, so she was made a ward of Queen Amlaruil Moonflower and raised within the royal household. When Verana was barely twenty, the entire island nation of Evermeet was shifted into Faerie, the plane from which the elven people had originated several millennia ago. Queen Amlaruil died from the strain of enacting that great transportation, and Verana and her fellow ward Azariah were then shuffled among multiple instructors and tutors.

Overall, life in Faerie—the Feywild—wasn’t much different for the people of Evermeet: they were isolated on Toril, and remained so in their new plane. On Toril, the elves insulated themselves against non-elves, but in the Feywild, many of the archfey, leShay, and eladrin of the plane held themselves apart from the elves they considered to be “dangerously shortsighted”, but other eladrin and lesser fey were happy to interact with the “younger” elves.

For her part, Verana delighted in her encounters with the fey, playing games with pixies and music with grigs, as well as learning the eladrin perspective on the use of magic. Where a sun elf might wield magic in a grandiose manner or a moon elf might use their magic to sculpt nature, an eladrin’s magic was typically more subtle and aimed at seamless integration, rather than forcing their surroundings to suit their own needs.

After Evermeet returned to Toril, Verana was surprised to learn that magic was not nearly so common for most of the people of Faerûn as it was for Evermeet, and especially for Evermeet-in-Faerie. Curious to learn how those without ready  access to magic live their lives, she eagerly boarded a ship headed for the distant Sword Coast.

Azariah accompanied Verana on the voyage to Waterdeep, hoping to find her father who was known to have lived in the city a century ago. The pair parted ways soon after disembarking their ship, but they hope to reunite in the future.

Friends & Enemies

Not all of the inhabitants of the Feywild were friendly toward the elves of Evermeet: during one of Verana’s few forays off the island, she had a disastrous encounter with a family of malicious quicklings.
