Tholana “Lana” Shesturev
Like most dragonborn clans which migrated to the Sword Coast region, the Shesturevs arrived in Yartar as refugees of the Spellplague, but quickly made themselves indispensable to the town as city guards, skilled tradesmen, and, of course, bureaucrats. When soft-skins look at a dragonborn, most immediately think of them only as hardy fighters, and while that’s often true, they frequently overlook the logical and orderly approach many dragonborn favor, a mindset which makes bureaucratic work intensely appealing.
Thovara Shesteruv worked for the Waterbaron herself, but it became apparent from an early age that her daughter Lana would not follow in her footsteps. While never truly rebellious, Lana possessed both a curious nature and a wanton lack of awareness of danger. Compounding this, the young dragonborn had a smile for almost everyone and short attention span for almost everything. Vara despaired of ever being able to raise her child properly, but when Lana abruptly manifested the magic of a true dragon, she became the responsibility of the clan’s lone sorcerer, Vonegar.
Many in the clan thought old Egar very odd, and Lana fit right into his lifestyle. The pair explored, played, and dreamed away their days together, and Egar’s unconventional instruction methods included playing harmless pranks on one another, crafting illusions to illustrate stories of famous adventurers, and altering common spells with new effects.
When elemental cultists attacked Triboar last year, Lana and Egar joined in the town’s defense and were hailed as heroes alongside the party of adventurers who’d come to the town’s aid. Eager for more action, Lana followed the advice of the adventurers and headed to Waterdeep, a city which had featured in the tales of nearly every famous adventuring band from the Company of Crazed Venturers to the Companions of the Hall to the more-recent Blue Lynx Adventurers.
Traits
“I like being on the receiving end of a good prank almost as much as I love doing the pranking. I could spend hours lost in an adventure book or listening to a troubadour weave a tale.”
Ideals
“Do what you love and you’ll never ‘work’ a day in your life!”
Bonds
“I have the magic of my dragon ancestors flowing through my veins; what more could I need?”
Flaws
“Look, I get that rules and laws can be important, but I can’t be bothered to remember what they are if they’re stupid.”
“I Know a Guy”
Egar would be the first to admit he’s too old to “gallivant about” but he’s nevertheless an endless font of trivial knowledge thanks to his insatiable appetite for books and bards’ tales, and his uncanny recall thereof.
Friends & Enemies
On their way to Waterdeep, Lana’s caravan made an overnight stop in Yartar’s rival town, Triboar. She didn’t start the bar brawl between the locals and the caravan guards, but she might not be allowed into Triboar again any time soon…
